Tech Tuesday Talks, is a monthly seminar series bringing together researchers from across the USC campus who share interest in technology-assisted health promotion and disease prevention interventions and research. The series presents a forum to learn about one another’s work, spark collaborations, as well as to introduce students to the ongoing research conducted on the USC campus which incorporates technology in health promotion. All interested faculty and students are invited to attend. The event is free and open to the public.

Speaker: Kelley Strohacker, PhD
Topic: There is an “I” in Exercise: Leveraging Smartphones to Understand Time-Varying Intra-Individual Antecedents of Exercise Behavior
Dr. Kelley Strohacker is an Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She will discuss her ongoing experience using Qualtrics SMS to conduct Ecological Momentary Assessment. These measures can be used to better understand intra-individual factors and their relationships to subsequent exercise behavior. As an example, she will introduce the concept of Flexible Nonlinear Periodization as a novel framework for prescribing exercise and applying Qualtrics and EMA.
